Graphic Organizers


VENN DIAGRAM
Used to compare and contrast. The outer areas are for differences, and the similarites are listed in the middle area.

TRIPLE VENN DIAGRAM
Compare and contrast three issues. The center is the area of similarity for all three topics.

STORY BOARD
A simple storyboard form can be used to retell a story's main events, plan before writing a story, plan for a film, and much more.

STORY WEB
While reading map the setting, characters, problem, and solution.


THEMATIC WEB
Main idea goes in the middle, and ideas connected to it go in satellite boxes.


QUESTION MARK
Who, What When, Where, Why, and How.

STAR
Sequence or write the 5 W's in the points of the star. Illustrate on the inside.
PYRAMID
This could be used for sequencinig events that flow down hill or for organizing from narrow to broad.



KWLH
Here, like the KWL, students express what they Know, what they Want to know, and what they Learned. The H is for How. How will you find out more information about the topic?

LADDER
Sequence four events starting at the bottom and working up.

NOTE TAKER
Organize notes with: main events, important people, key terms, facts, and important quotes.

HAMBURGER
This format helps students understand that the two buns hold the "meat" of the paragraph.
GIVE 'EM A HAND
This blank hand could be used for art projects, sequencing five events, the 5 Ws and How, and more.

INVERTED PYRAMID
Chart topics that flow from broad to narrow.


FISH STORY
A fun place to write a story.

FLOWCHART
Chart the events that lead to others.

FLOWER
Sequence, write the 5 W's and 1 How in the petals, or just decorate.

CHARACTERIZATION FORM
Students analyze the four ways in which an author develops characters.

CLOCK
Cut the arms out and students can use this to practice telling time.

CLOUD SEQUENCE
Use this to sequences events. Write the events inside the clouds. Draw a picture in the center.
DOUBLE BUBBLE
This compare and contrast organizer is a more complex version of the venn diagram.

FISH BONES
Analyze the who, what, when, where, why, and how of an event or story.

8 EVENTS
Draw pictures to represent 8 events in a story or process.

APPLE GRAM
Students have the chance to show appreciation to their classmates. After they decorate them and present them they can be displayed on the walls.
CAUSE/EFFECT
Organize the main events by cause and effect.

CHAIN OF EVENTS
Use this chain to sequences events. Write the events inside the chain links. Draw a picture in the center.

CHARACTERIZATION
This organizer helps students analyze a character by what other characters say.
